Kanakanbutsu is a type of warrior doll also known as "Kai Kanakanbutsu," "Koshu Kanakanbutsu," or "Okabuto."
 There are two theories about the origin of the name: one is that it is a corrupted form of "Kanekabuto" (golden helmet), and the other is that it comes from "Kamikanbutsu" (paper crown). Although it is rarely seen these days, it is a unique folk toy of Koshu that was displayed in many homes from the Edo period to the Meiji period.
